me in a nut shell
I hold many titles...Mom, designer, laundry procrastinator and chocolate addict (among many other things). I live in a tiny home on wheels (yep, I'm one of THOSE people) just north of Macon, GA with the love of my life, our 3 crazy kids, 3 cats and 2 dogs.
Laundry is my kryptonite and doing dishes comes in a close second. I hate to cook although everyone seems to think I do it really well. I Facebook like mad, can take or leave Twitter and probably use smiley faces and the word "awesome" way too much in general. :)
my business journey
TEN YEARS OLD & A FRUIT STAND
That was the Summer that my PaPa White decided to build me a fruit stand. He wanted me to have something to do while I was out of school and to keep me out of my Mom's hair - I'm thinking she may have been in on the whole thing. That little fruit stand wasn't much to look at but I helped him make it and that made it the coolest thing in the world. He brought in fresh fruit and vegetables from a local farmer he knew and I started selling. I sold to the mailman, neighbors, friends of neighbors - pretty much anyone that would drive by our house. At the end of that Summer, I had $500 in my pocket and I was hooked!
TEENAGER TO MOTHER
Through my teenage years, I never let my entrepreneur spark go out. I created a neighborhood magazine (which no one read btw) and started a soap company, selling at local craft fairs and flea markets. I had dreams of becoming a fashion designer and moving to New York to go to school. But it seems right after high school, life had a different plan for me. At the age of 20, I became a Mom for the first time (a single mom at that) and needed to support my son so I got a "real job" out in the corporate world in property management. I loved the people I worked with but I HATED my job.
In my late twenties, I got married and started to sew for my soon-to-be daughter. This sparked my entrepreneurial dreams once again. So, with a $200 investment and a sewing machine I started a children's clothing company. It did really well and sold to stores here in the US and overseas. I did all of my own designing, branding and marketing which caught the eye of an awesome woman-owned business and started me down the path to graphic and web design - my true love.
Oh by the way, I also got divorced, found the love of my life, remarried and gained an extra kiddo in the process. That was about 5 years ago - and a whole different story. That's my crazy family in the picture over there.
